Installation Guide
- For Mac Users: Download the macOS installation file from our website. Open the .dmg file and drag the Gubb icon to your Applications folder. Double-click to launch.
- For Windows Users: Download the Windows installer from our website. Run the .exe file and follow the installation wizard. Once installed, you can find Gubb in your Start menu.
- First-time Setup: Upon first launch, Gubb will create a default notes folder on your device. No account creation is required, as Gubb stores your data locally by default.
Your First Note
- Launch Gubb and click the “+” icon to create a new note.
- Start typing right away—your note is automatically saved as you type.
- Use the formatting shortcuts (Cmd/Ctrl+B for bold, Cmd/Ctrl+I for italic) to style your text.
- Access additional features through the floating toolbar that appears when you hover your cursor in the editor area.

How do I organize my notes?

Why isn’t Voice to Text working?
If Voice to Text isn’t working, check these common issues:
- Ensure your microphone is connected and working properly
- Check that you’ve granted Gubb permission to access your microphone in your system settings

To-do List
How do I create a to-do list?
Create task lists directly within your notes:
- Type “- [ ] ” (hyphen, space, open bracket, space, close bracket, space) at the beginning of a line
- Type your task after this sequence
- Press Enter to create another task item
- Click the checkbox to mark a task as complete
Can I reorder my tasks?
Yes, you can reorder tasks by clicking and dragging the task to a new position in your list. Make sure to click near the beginning of the task line for the drag handle to appear.
Pomodoro Timer
How do I use the Pomodoro Timer?
- Click the timer icon in the floating toolbar
- Set your desired work duration (default is 25 minutes)
- Click “Start” to begin the countdown
- Gubb will notify you when the timer ends
- Take a short break, then start another session
Can I customize the Pomodoro intervals?
Yes, you can customize both work and break durations:
- Work intervals can be set between 5-60 minutes
- Short breaks can be set between 1-15 minutes
- Long breaks (after 4 work intervals) can be set between 5-30 minutes
Break Time Reminder
How do Break Time Reminders work?
Break Time Reminders work in two ways:
- With Pomodoro Timer: Automatically reminds you to take breaks between Pomodoro sessions
- Independent Mode: Set custom break intervals (e.g., every 45 minutes) in Settings
How do I customize Break Time Reminders?

Clipboard History

Is my Clipboard History secure?
Yes. Your Clipboard History is:
- Stored locally on your device only
- Never transmitted to our servers

Calculator & Contextual Math
How do I use the calculator feature?
Simply type a math expression followed by an equals sign in your note. Gubb will automatically calculate the result. For example:
- Basic arithmetic:
24 + 36 =
will show24 + 36 = 60
- With parentheses:
(45 - 15) * 2 =
will show(45 - 15) * 2 = 60
- Percentages:
200 * 15% =
will show200 * 15% = 30

How current are the exchange rates?
Gubb uses the Frankfurter API for currency exchange rates, which are updated daily. An internet connection is required for this feature to provide the most current rates.

Can I use Gubb offline?
Absolutely! Gubb is designed as an offline-first application. Most features work without an internet connection, except for Voice to Text and Currency Conversion which require online data.
How many notes can I create?
There is no limit to the number of notes you can create with Gubb. The only constraint is your device’s available storage space.
Can I export my notes?
Yes, Gubb allows you to export notes in multiple formats:
- Plain Text (.txt)
- Markdown (.md)
- PDF document
- HTML file
To export, open the note you want to export, click the three dots in the upper right corner, and select “Export as.”
Does Gubb support dark mode?
Yes! Gubb supports both light and dark modes. You can:
- Use your system’s default theme setting
- Manually set light or dark mode in Gubb’s settings
- Set a schedule to automatically switch between modes at specific times
What happens if I uninstall Gubb?
If you uninstall Gubb, your notes will remain on your device in the Gubb data folder. We recommend exporting important notes before uninstalling. You can also make a backup by copying the Gubb data folder (location available in Settings > About).
