Ultimate Guide to Winter Bucket List

It’s getting colder; the nights are getting longer. You’re leaving for work and getting home from work in the dark. The kids are about to have their school holidays. It’s getting harder and harder to get out of your lovely warm bed in the mornings.

Winter is coming.

Winter Fun

With Winter comes snow, lights, gifts, and good food. There is just so much going on during the festive season!

You have to find the perfect presents and cook up a feast. But there is so much fun for everyone if you know how to create the ultimate winter bucket list!

What to do?

There’s nothing better than getting cozy in front of the TV on a cold winter’s night, right? But the kids are getting restless, and you’ve run out of things to watch on Netflix.

After the Christmas hype has died down, it can be tough to think of things to do to keep everyone busy before Spring comes back around.

Winter bucket list

Here, we will give you a whole bunch of winter bucket list ideas to keep yourself and your kids busy during this winter season.

Everyone has heard of a bucket list, a list of things you have to do before you die. Well, now you can create a seasonal bucket list! Create a different list for spring, summer, autumn, and winter!

What is a winter bucket list?

It’s easy to stay inside when it’s so chilly and dark outside. But you might be missing out on having a super fun winter!

Winter can be a magical year with some great activities and experiences to discover. By writing a winter bucket list, you can push yourself out of your comfort zone and maybe even try something new!

Winter can feel very long, so having a winter bucket list can give you some ideas to keep busy during these winter months.

What can you do in winter?

Indoors or outdoors

Winter is the perfect time to make yourself a hot chocolate, put on your comfiest pajamas, and stay warm in front of the fire. There are always hundreds of Christmas films to watch on TV so you can get cozy and stay indoors.

Or, if you like to stay busy, there are also hundreds of outdoor winter activities you can participate in.

It can be tricky to think of ideas to fill your time in the winter months, so writing a list can help you plan your perfect holiday season. Whether you spend it with family, friends, at work, or by yourself, there are many ways to make your winter enjoyable!

Eat!

The holiday season is the best time for good food, whether you bake a pie in your kitchen or go to a Christmas market and find the most delicious cup of hot cocoa in the world! Look online for your local needs popping up over the next few months and try out some local cuisine.

Activities for everyone

There are so many activities available to do by yourself or in a group. Below are some ideas that you can put on your list to make your winter fun!

Check out what your town offers – you might find a Christmas movie at the local cinema, a small market to buy gifts, or maybe even an ice skating rink!

There is so much fun for all of the family this winter season (and a lot of it is free!).

Winter Bucket List Ideas

By yourself

Winter can be a tricky time if you don’t have family nearby, so finding ways to occupy yourself can help make the festive period a little more enjoyable.

Or, you might find you are desperate to have some alone time after being surrounded by family for too long.

You might even be one of those superheroes working during the festive period (and we thank you!).

Whatever your plans, it is essential to find ways to enjoy yourself and find some time for self-care.

Below are some winter bucket list ideas to enjoy on your own.

Take a bubble bath

Draw yourself a nice hot bath, pour a glass of your favorite wine, or make a nice cup of hot chocolate and sink into some relaxing scented bubbles. This is a great way to warm up and unwind on a cold winter night.

Try a new recipe

Get busy in the kitchen and try cooking something new.

Workout

It might feel like the last thing you want to do after all that Christmas chocolate, but spending 10 minutes working out could give you that boost you need to get through the rest of the day!

Random act of kindness

Winter can be harsh for some people, especially if they’re getting a bit older and can’t mobilize as well as they used to. Offer to go to the shop for supplies or shovel a neighbor’s driveway.

Acts of kindness will likely significantly impact someone’s day, and you will get such a warm fuzzy feeling knowing you have helped someone.

Go on a winter walk

Whether you live in the city or the countryside, everything can look more beautiful in winter. Watch the snowfall as you walk. Take the first steps in freshly fallen snow and hear it crunch underfoot.

Read a book

Reading can be enjoyable at any time of the year, especially when it’s cold outside and wrapped up warm in front of a fire.

With friends

It can be tricky to motivate people to leave the warmth of their homes, but if you have some fun winter bucket list activities to suggest to them, you could coax them out!

Game night

One of my favorite winter activities is having a game night with friends and family.

This is what Christmas is all about; being merry and fooling yourself by playing charades or Pictionary! It is a great way to get everyone together for indoor fun and a great opportunity to eat all the leftover food from Christmas!

Hockey game

What better time to see your favorite team win on the ice than amid winter. Grab a few pals and settle in for an exciting game!

Go bowling

Bowling can be great fun with your mates or with kids. You get to stay indoors (so you don’t get too cold) while also leaving the house.

Who doesn’t love those awesome shoes they give you to wear?

Go to Winter Wonderland

Most cities will have a Christmas market or Winter Wonderland, which must be on your winter bucket list. The lights, delicious smells, and beautiful gifts make this a truly magical visit that everyone can experience!

Have a dinner party

Invite over a bunch of pals and encourage everyone to bring some food and drink.

You’ll be surprised at how much leftover food and wine everyone has after Christmas, and you could end up with quite a feast!

Go sledding

If you have it, make the most of the snow, and enjoy watching your friends go hurtling down a hill!

With Kids

Winter can be such a magical time for us all, especially for the little ones. There is the excitement of Santa, gifts, and even playing in the snow!

Getting ready for Christmas can be so much fun for everyone, with so much to do! There’s a lot to keep the kids busy by baking in the kitchen, decorating the Christmas tree, and visiting relatives.

But even after Christmas is over, there is still so much fun to be had! Here are some excellent winter bucket list ideas for kids and the whole family.

Make snow angels

Get everyone outside and teach your kids the perfect way to make a snow angel. Just remember to wrap up warm!

Bake gingerbread men

Baking is a great way to occupy the kids (even if it does get a bit messy)! Plus, it makes the house smell wonderful!

Smoors

Get a big fire going for everyone to huddle around and melt delicious smoors.

Build a snowman

If you get snow this year, send the kids outside with a hat, scarf, and carrot and see their snowman take shape!

Snowball fight

When there is snow on the ground, this is a must! And it’s not just for the kids! Get the whole family wrapped up and outside to join in the snowball fight of the century!

Go ice skating

Some towns have an outdoor ice skating rink set up over winter, so check if you have one nearby. Watching your kids zoom around on the ice can be great fun. And even more, fun for them to watch you fall over!

Inside

When it’s just too cold outside, and you’re not in the mood to build a snowman, spending a day indoors can be the best way to pass the time.

Here are some simple indoor activities to add to your winter bucket list.

Make decorations

This can be a fun indoor winter activity for you or the kids. Cut some paper snowflakes, or build a gingerbread house. There is always more room for decorations!

Put on a film

This is one of the best winter activities, without a doubt. Some of the greatest movies are set in the Christmas holiday season and are perfect whether you’re on your own or with a group of pals!

Put on some comfy PJs and warm socks and snuggle up on the sofa with Santa on the TV.

Write thank-you cards

Okay, so this one might not be so fun, but it is important to thank everyone for their lovely gifts. So take advantage of some quiet time and get thanking!

Best way to spend a winters day

The holiday season is all about family and fun activities, so whether you want to run around in the snow or stay indoors with a hot chocolate, there are many fun things to do.

Create your winter bucket list using these ideas and your own so you will never be short of winter activities to choose from.

The best part is that many of the things on your list can be free, which is excellent news after buying all those gifts!
